Projects undertaken
- THE PARLE DIRECTORY:
An idea never thought of before! A major project with a principal capital of 50 volunteers, finished in a record time of 7 months, aiming to introduce every nook and corner of Vile Parle to anybody interested. You need a doctor or dentist or for that matter even an architect, and you have it all. Every type of information about every inch of Parle is ready for you in a minute.
- VISHWAVEDH:
A branch of Janaseva Samiti. From ancient times man was curious to know about the great blue sky. Man's imagination took many shapes which he expressed in the form of poetry. We try to bring you closer to this mythical bode of Gods by making an attempt to answer the various questions like, why do stars and planets rise and set, where does the sun come from, what is the source of his energy and so on and so forth through lectures, slide shows, workshops, sky observations, discussions etc. Every two months a sky observation programme is conducted for the benefit of those with a yearning for more and more knowledge about the Earth, the planets, the solar system etc.
- BLOOD GROUP DIRECTORY:
Today's is a fast moving world prone to the accidents. In such cases of emergencies, BLOOD the life of the human body is demanded within a short span of time and a person is at a loss as to where to get it. Blood group directory is an answer to such an emergency. A directory of over 3000 names from numerous corners of the suburb:Vile Parle. Various free blood camps were arranged with a view to not only collecting names for the Directory but also to help people, till today, unaware of their blood group, to know what blood groups they belong to. All this is conducted under the valuable guidance of highly qualified specialists of their professions. Numerous such camps have been arranged to date. All this information collected is computerised.
- SANT DHNYANESHWAR DINDI:
Maharashtra is a proud place of many saints: Dhnyaneshwar, Tukaram, Namdev, Eknath, to name a few. A child of 15 years had the capability of speaking and explaining the Sanskrit Gita. This child none other than Sant Dhnyaneshwar, had the prudence of understanding the main problem of the common man. He translated the Sanskrit Gita into the common man's language thus bringing it to the masses, on the auspicious occasion of the 700th birth anniversary of this Dhnaneshwari, in the year 1990, Janaseva Samiti organised saint Dhnaneshwar Dindi to awaken a new dormant memory of a bygone era of saints and their religious works. And from then on there was no looking back. This "palkhi" is now arranged every year on the occasion of Ashadhi Ekadashi to keep up the religious fervour that was Maharashtra of a bygone golden era.

Physical and mental moulding of the youth
- THE PUBLIC SPEAKING COURSE:
The competition is the life line of this era and if you have to compete, you have to communicate. Not every person has the gift of gab. Any number of degrees and diplomas will be useless without the capability of ex-pression. To develop this very delicate yet important facet of youth's personality, a 15 day course is organised. Stating with teaching you to introducing yourselves, which itself is a difficult task for most, up to writing a job application or drafting your own bio-data. It even extends to familiarising the youth to the technique of group discussions, interviews, speech-writing etc. which is a must to secure a lucrative job today.
- THE RIFLE SHOOTING COURSE:
Ajit Tawde, the gold medallist of the recent National games, needs no introduction. However, we take great pride in informing that our rifle shooting course is conducted by none other than Ajit Tawde. Several of our students/members have also gone ahead to secure various medals for the state. Within a duration of 12 days, the course aims at introducing various shooting techniques and also provides practical training of rifle shooting.
- STUDY CIRCLES:
Each person is gifted with an ability unique only to himself whereby he can develop that particular aspect better than others. In such cases when, people with varied interests gather together, there exists an import-export of knowledge. Study circles are arranged every week to introduce each individual to various types of information in the form of an informal discussion. To date we have discussed numerous subjects like: the Brain, the 1st World War, the Share market scam, Photography, History, etc.
- HIKING AND TREKKING:
"ALL WORK NO PLAY MAKES JACK A DULL BOY", so goes the famous proverb. Very true indeed! We talked about mental moulding of the youth, but there are many programmes arranged by Janaseva Samiti for the physically stronger youth. Janaseva Samiti has organised nearly 50 hikes, 4 treks in the Sahyadri ranges of Maharashtra during its life span of 5 years. Training today's youth, more used to a luxurious, lazy city life, to harden himself to the realities of the other side of the life, to build up his stamina, his courage, to broaden his outlook towards life, to teach him to value life and foremost of all to keep the flame of patriotism - alighted 300 years ago by one of india's favourite patriotic heroes: Shivaji the Great, constantly burning, are some of the basic aims behind conducting some programmes.
- ROCK CLIMBING:
Rocks and pinnacles in the sahyadris are really challenging! One requires great courage, strength, endurance to conquer them. For adventure lovers, Janaseva Samiti arranges rock climbing courses from time to time. Training in various artificial climbing, rappelling and other mountaineering techniques is imparted under the guidance of experts in such camps.
- FUN WITH MATHS:
It is observed that ordinary students hate mathematics because of the clumsy and dull way in which it is introduced to them in schools and colleges. In order to create an interest in this queen of sciences, Janaseva Samiti has framed a course in which Mathematics becomes fun! An investigative approach in this subject is introduced so that a student learns to build up his logic to reach solutions.
- COMPUTER TRAINING:
In the near future computer is going to be a part and parcel of our daily life. Only a computer-literate can secure a lucrative job in today's highly competitive job-market. Janaseva Samiti has devised a computer appreciation course to impart the preliminary knowledge of computers to a common man.
